Sprint is going to release a minor software update for HTC Evo 3D users. This update will be available for via manual initiation today, but the OTA notifications are going to start on January 17.
You can either go to Menu > Settings > System updates > HTC software update > Check now, to manually initiate the update download or wait for the automatic notification.

HTC Rezound Beats smartphone hands-on and first look
We got some hands-on time with HTC's new monster of a smartphone, the Rezound. The Rezound features a number of firsts, as it is the first smartphone with Beats audio in the U.S., and features the first 720p display on an HTC device.
When I first picked up the Rezound, I noticed right away just how large the phone is. It's not entirely unwieldy, thanks to the narrow aspect ratio of its 720p resolution display, but it's not particularly thin or light. I really do love the red accents that are found all over the device - including the translucent red plastic body seen when you remove the rear battery cover.
I have to be honest when I say that the 720p resolution of the display didn't really stand out in normal use. The display looked great, of course, but the blacks were still not really black, and I just didn't see the extra pixels as doing much. Until I played back an HD video, that is. The display, when paired up with an HD video, comes into its own and is super impressive. The video playback is very smooth, too, thanks to the dual-core 1.5GHz processor and 1GB of available RAM.
While the Beats audio support sounds cool, and the Rezound ships with custom Beats in-ear headphones, I can't really say how much it did to improve the experience since we couldn't test the actual headphones and I had nothing handy to compare them with. When listening with a pair of over-the-ear Beats headphones, though, there was a noticeable improvement when the Beats system was enabled.
The Rezound will hit shelves on November 14, and it carries a price tag as large as its dimensions. Verizon Wireless will be asking $299.99 on-contract for the Rezound, and you will be able to pick it up at Verizon stores or Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile locations when it is released.

Is the HTC Flyer's stylus priced too high?
Buying expensive gadgets is what we do. It’s not that we necessarily like paying money for expensive gadgets, or that the gadgets we know and love so much are so expensive (sometimes), it’s just the fact we don’t have much of a choice. They’re expensive, and we want them so we buy them. Sure, we may feel a small ache in our wallets later, but we’re generally happy with our purchase (unless you start suffering from buyer’s remorse). And, as sad and unfortunate as that truth may be, it’s what we’re faced with day-to-day. Best Buy has confirmed this truthrecently, with the revelation that the stylus for HTC’s Android-powered tablet, the Flyer, will cost $80. For those who aren’t sure what the HTC Flyer’s stylus is, let’s take a moment to reflect. When the Flyer was announced, HTC took some time out of the announcement to show off one of the key features of the device, which they’re calling Scribe. This feature lets you use that aforementioned stylus to “write” on pretty much everything and anything you want, at any time you want. That means web pages, too. It’s an interesting thing to provide for the end user, and it should provide plenty of fun and functionality to the tablet.
But of course, despite the fact that Scribe is being marketed as core functionality to the tablet itself, HTC’s not going to just give you the stylus in the box. No, that would make too much sense. Instead, HTC’s going to go ahead and toss that stylus into a separate package and make you pay “extra” for it. Now, technically, this is a sound plan. Because while Scribe is a feature, it’s still just a feature, and not an integral part to the tablet.
But, that’s technically. What we’re being told, and what the customer is being marketed, is that Scribe is indeed an integral part of the tablet, and that you don’t want the Flyer if you don’t want to scribble notes onto random things while you’re using it. Scribe is great, so you’ll want to use it. But, you can’t use it unless you’ve got yourself this particular stylus. Oh, and you’ll have to pay extra for it. But you’ll want to do that, because Scribe is so great.
Minus all that sarcasm, that’s exactly what we’re looking at here. So customers will have to pay for the tablet and then the stylus. This would be fine if the stylus wasn’t almost one hundred dollars in of itself. If the stylus were something more “reasonable,” like $50 or $40, then I think this wouldn’t even be a conversation to have. But, we don’t live in a time where inexpensive gadgets rule the roost. We’ve always got to be ready to pay out the you-know-what for something we want, especially if it’s a gadget of any kind, and that’s just something we have to accept.
But, let’s just ask the question: is the stylus for the HTC Flyer too much money? And, perhaps more to the point: should HTC bundle the stylus with the Flyer without charging any extra money? Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Verizon's HTC Trophy stars in a bevy of leaked press images
Verizon's version of the HTC Trophy has been teasing us in leaks ever since the tail end of last year, but it looks like Big Red's first Windows Phone 7 device is finally about to arrive. After hearing that Verizon employees were undergoing WP7 training as well as a rumors of a May 12th launch, today we've got a batch of the Trophy's press images for you to gobble up. Of course, this leak shouldn't be taken as indication that the handset is 100 percent confirmed for Thursday, but it certainly adds credence to that rumor. It's kind of surprising that it's taken Verizon this long to launch a Windows Phone 7 product, especially considering Sprint release the HTC Arrive a month and a half ago, but it's good to see that the Trophy is almost here. Of course, its time in the spotlight may be limited, as we've heard that the HTC 7 Pro could be coming to Verizon sometime in the future. Which of these two HTC WP7 handsets would you prefer?

HTC Sensation 4G spotted getting the FCC treatment once again, this time for sure
Will the real HTC Sensation 4G please stand up? Earlier this week, a mysterious HTC device with the model number PG58100 passed through the FCC complete with T-Mobile-friendly radios. Everyone thought that it was the Sensation 4G getting its FCC stamp of approval, but now the real Sensation, aka PG58130, was just spotted doing it's thing in our favorite government agency. This time we know that it really is the Sensation thanks to the fact that it's got T-Mobile compatibility and has "HTC Sensation" printed on its label. So what does this mean the PG58100 is? Tough to say. According to the HTC Doubleshot's leaked documents, it carries the model number PG59100, so we can almost certainly rule that out. Whatever the PG58100 is, it'll work with T-Mobile when it lands, so that's something to keep in mind. When we learn more about this mysterious device, you can bet that we'll let you know.

HTC ThunderBolt software update delayed for reasons unknown
Remember that HTC ThunderBolt update that we told you about the other day? Yeah, that one. Turns out Verizon may have jumped the gun a bit when it announced that the update would begin rolling out on Tuesday, as we're not hearing that it's been delayed indefinitely. When you head to Verizon's support page for the TBolt, it simply says that the new software is "COMING SOON!". There's no word on exactly why the update was pushed back, but hopefully we'll be seeing it arrive sooner rather than later. Whenever that happens, you can be sure we'll let you know!

HTC Sensation up for pre-order at Vodafone UK, delivery promised by May 19th
HTC couldn't let Samsung and Motorola have all the dual-core fun in the UK and it's now let Vodafone detail the earliest known availability of its mighty Sensation. That 1.2GHz, aluminum-clad handset has gone up for pre-order today, with Vodafone aiming to deliver "by the 19th of May." Not exactly the firmest of promises here, but it's good to know that in a couple of weeks we'll have yet another contender in the dual-core Android wars. We suspect other European markets will be joining the UK at about the same time, and T-Mobile in the US shouldn't be too far behind either.

HTC Inspire 4G: HTC Inspire 4G on AT&T Release Date
HTC inspire 4G was scheduled to release on 13th February. The AT&T is bringing out its first phone with in-built hotspot, which it allows users to connect to other Wi-Fi devices.The HTC inspire 4G unveiled at last year’s consumer electronics show. Inspire 4G runs with Android 2.2 Operating System with best features like 4.3 inches LCD screen display, HSPA with AT&T network, 8 mega pixels camera that provides 720 pixels HD video recording with dual flash and 4GB internal memory with 8GB micro SD memory card slot, 4G HSPA internet speed for downloading, Bluetooth 2.1, 1230 mAH battery. Memory card can be extended up to 32GB.
The HTC inspire 4G is the largest AT&T collection . AT&T chief executive Ralph de la Vega stated that the present HSPA internet speed were running at around 6 Mbps for the downloads. HTC inspire 4G will support pre loaded applications like MY Wireless, Family Map, AT&T Code Scanner, UVerse, Mobile TV, YP Mobile, Navigation and HTC Hub.
HSPA having various internet speed levels for downloading of 21Mbps up to 42 Mbps or 84 Mbps, in the future it may be raised to 168Mbps. AT&T is bringing out HTC Inspire 4G is the first mobile of more than 20 devices of carrier plan to deliver in 2011. Samsung Infuse 4G and Motorola Atrix were coming out from AT&T soon.
AT&T will charge monthly data plans for the HTC Inspire 4G will price $15 for 200MB of data and $25 per month for 2GB data plan. Data can be use through Hotspot capacity from Datapro Tethering plan for the user data allowance. HTC Inspire 4G will be available on AT&T stores and online from 13th February at price $99.99 with two years contract.

HTC 7 Pro arriving on O2 Germany ‘next week,’ priced at €569
Last we heard of the HTC 7 Pro, it was taking a casual stroll through O2 Germany’s website, throwing around boasts that it’ll be on sale come January 2011.Well, guess what? That promise has just been reiterated by O2′s German Twitter stream, which says that the 7 Pro will be on sale next week for an unsubsidized price of €569 ($735). That’s available via O2′s usual MyHandy payment plan, where you dish out €29 in advance and then pay off the phone in equal monthly payments over two years. We can’t imagine HTC leaving the rest of the world sitting idly by, twiddling their QWERTY keyboard-loving thumbs, so look out for this WP7 handset to filter through to your local market some time soon.

HTC EVO SHIFT 4G
Well, my friends at Sprint came through in a big way for me today. The just announced Sprint HTC EVO Shift showed up on my doorstep. I have had the phone, which is scheduled to be released commercially on Sprint’s network on January 9, for only a few hours, but it is already quickly becoming my favorite Android based phone. When I reviewed the HTC EVO, I had two main complaints.The phone was just too big for me to easily utilize, and there was no hard keyboard. I am just not someone who likes to use an onscreen keyboard anymore than I have to. So, stay tuned. We will be checking out these features and a whole lot more in the coming weeks. HTC Touch Diamond2 in Europe from 19 April
According to preliminary information, sales of HTC Touch Diamond2 at the European and Asian markets will begin in mid-April this year.This device has already appeared in already available for pre-order at Expansys.com, which means that the phone will be available from 19 April this year at a cost of approximately $608, which is almost $100 more expensive of the initially anounced pirce at MWC in February.

At Least 3 Android Smartphones from HTC this year
Together with the newly announced HTC Magic and the leaked Android Hero, you will see at least one more Android phone coming from HTC this year according to HTC CEO Peter Chou. Magic, Vodafone’s first Android-powered HTC cell phone
The 2009 edition of the Mobile World Congress proved itself to be exactly how many of us expected it: a chain of nice surprises coming from all major cell phones manufacturers from all around the world. And HTC Corporation doesn’t make an exception whatsoever.
After we got the chance to see a couple of leaked images of the HTC Magic, branded with another famous name, Vodafone, it seems that the smartphone has been given the official treatment. Magic is the first Android-powered HTC cell phone (ok, smartphone) sold by Vodafone which is expected to attract many customers with its keyboardless design. The lack of a QWERTY keyboard makes it a whole lot simpler and more elegant than the T-Mobile G1, for example.
As far as the features are concerned, the HTC Magic has on board: GSM and HSDPA connectivity, a 3.2 inch TFT touchscreen display with a resolution of 320x480 pixels, a 3.2 megapixel camera, an on-screen virtual QWERTY keyboard, GPS connectivity, Wi-Fi, trackball navigation, webkit browser, services and applications like Android Market, Google Maps, Google Search, Google Mail and easy access to YouTube.“Delivering an unbeatable mobile internet experience for our customers is a priority for Vodafone, so we are very excited to be introducing our first Android-powered smartphone in the spring”, says Patrick Chomet, Global Director of Terminals, Vodafone Group. In addition, he said that “following our joining of the Open Handset Alliance, we have worked very closely with HTC to bring this cool new phone to the market. The Android-based HTC cell phone will be sold first in countries like UK, Spain and France (the white version), Germany (the black version) and Italy (in both colors). However, it is expected to become available in other Vodafone markets in the next couple of months.
New HTC Touch HD Hot Fix for Camera Viewfinder Enhancement
HTC has released a new hot fix this week, which is to enhance the camera virtual viewfinder on the HTC Touch HD. According to the support page, “When you use the Camera function to take a picture in a dim environment with super fine quality, sometimes the image will display extraneous (noise) pixels in the viewfinder mode. It’s not a mechanical (LCD) fault but only an intermittent display problem in view finder mode. It does not have any impact on the picture quality or other display functions. If you encounter this problem, please download this hot fix to enhance the virtual viewfinder mode.”The hot fix can be downloaded here and you would need to copy the software update file to your touch HD. You can then run the hot fix directly on your Touch HD.
Another piece of good news is the company seems to have fixed the on-screen slider hot fix issues, where the hot fix will make video call unaccessible after the updates. The hot fix has been replaced with a newer file, without any announcement. Check out the updated on-screen slider hot fix here, you can just reinstall the hot fix again to overwrite the previous update

HTC Touch HD Hot Fix Needs a Fix
The new software update for the HTC Touch HD was supposed to improve the on-screen slider feature for answering calls. Many of the Touch HD users (including me) has got another problem caused by the hot fix. Right after the installation, the phone dialer has a strange layer “Call Hi…” (Call History?) on top of the video call button and video calls could not be made without access to the button.To fix the problem, you can’t simply uninstall the hot fix as it will not revert back your old system files. Cool dude from xda-developers has created a simple solution, which allow you to undo the hot fix and get back the old system files. Check the instruction here
The method works, although you might still need the buggy fix if you are facing problem with the answering call slider.

UK to Get T-Mobile G1 from October 30
T-Mobile today announces the T-Mobile G1 will be available in the UK from 30 October. Exclusive to T-Mobile, the G1 comes with full touch screen functionality plus a QWERTY keyboard for easy online communication, high speed internet with popular Google services already on board, and access to innovative application downloads from the new Android Market. According to the company, there are already 25,000 UK consumers pre-registered their interest in the device.The G1 is available for free on T-Mobile Combi and Flext price plans from £40 a month, including unlimited fast mobile internet browsing powered by T-Mobile’s award-winning network. Combi 35 offers 800 minutes and unlimited texts while Flext 40 gives up to 1,250 minutes or up to 2,500 texts or any mix of the two.

HTC T8290 Will Support WiMAX and GSM
Clearly, Taiwanese mobile manufacturer HTC is having an excellent year. After bringing the HTC Diamond to users out there, it moved directly to making the first Google Android phone, the G1 for T-Mobile. Now, recently leaked information has it that HTC is working on a HTC T8290 phone that, apparently, supports not only GSM but also WiMAX.This is now the latest, hottest, and most debated topic regarding mobile phones, and tidbits of information and some pictures of the HTC T8290 have already leaked. The new device is designed to allow even more wireless Internet access, thus complying with the current trend in the mobile industry, imposed by all the phones that are destined to be high-end and that provide, one way or another, broadband Internet access and advanced browsing functionalities.
WiMAX is a telecommunications technology that is designed to provide wireless data transmission in a variety of ways, from point to point links to full mobile Internet access. It allows for broadband speed without the need of cables, which is an essential aspect for mobiles if we come to think of it. Thus, WiMAX is a reliable alternative to cable and DSL connections and, as far as mobile phones go, a great alternative in the absence of 3G.
The HTC T8290 is apparently designed for the Russian WiMAX operator Yota. Since Russia has no 3G coverage, users can benefit from broadband Internet by using this device.The specs for the phone include a 3.8" 800×480 WVGA LCD, 802.11g WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0. Unfortunately, this is all the info available for the time being. Considering that the handset is supposedly almost official, since it has been presented at the WiMAX World Conference in Chicago, all the specs, along with a price and release date, should be made public soon. However, just like in all the cases when we have to deal with rumors and leaked information, we'll just have to wait and see.

With a fun and intuitive user interface and one-touch access to Google Search, the TMobile G1 is also the first phone to provide access to Android Market, where customers can find and download unique applications to expand and personalize their phone to fit their lifestyle. T-Mobile customers in the U.S. have the opportunity to pre-order the T-Mobile G1 cellular, in limited quantities, beginning today and be among the first to experience this game-changing phone. The device will be available at select T-Mobile retail stores and online in the U.S. beginning Oct. 22, for a price of $179 with a two-year voice and data agreement. The T-Mobile G1 smartphone will also be available in the United Kingdom beginning in November, and across Europe in the first quarter of 2009. The countries include Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and the Netherlands.
HTC Touch Pro and HTC Touch Viva, Available Soon in Taiwan
Although Taiwan is HTC's home country, the company's Touch Pro Pocket PC has not been released there yet. But this is about to change in the near future, as the Windows Mobile handset manufacturer intends to strike a deal with Far EasTone, Taiwan's third largest mobile carrier, in order to start selling the Touch Pro across the South-East Asian country.Officially presented by HTC at the beginning of June, the Touch Pro is almost the same device as the Touch Diamond. Or at least at first sight, because upon a closer look, you get to see that the Touch Pro hides a full QWERTY keyboard that slides out horizontally. This makes the handset thicker than the Diamond (18 millimeters, as opposed to only 11.5), but it's a great addition, nevertheless, for users who rely on their handset for quickly writing emails and text messages.
QWERTY goodness aside, HTC Touch Pro also brings a 2.8 inch TFT touchscreen with a VGA resolution (480 x 640 pixels), TouchFLO 3D User Interface, internal GPS, Wi-Fi, a 3.15 Megapixel camera with auto focus, TV out, expandable memory and many other features. The handset is set to hit the Taiwanese market starting October.
HTC is also getting ready to release its newly-announced Touch Viva in Taiwan. Unlike the Touch Pro, Viva can't be considered a high-end Pocket PC, but it's still a pretty nice device. Built on the platform of the old HTC Touch, Viva comes with a similar design, offering features like: Windows Mobile 6.1. Wi-Fi, a 2.8 inch TFT QVGA touchscreen display, TouchFLO User Interface, Pocket Office, Media player, a 2 Megapixel camera and so on.
The retail price of HTC Touch Viva for the Taiwanese market is said to be of around 11,900 TWD (370 USD or 255 Euros). By the end of this year, HTC hopes to sell at least 2 million Vivas in Asian-Pacific markets.
