iPhone Firmware 1.1.4 Coming Soon?
Most of the 1.1.4 conversation revolves around third party iPhone software developer Tiny Code, who recently pulled their unofficial third party iPhone applications from Installer.app due to what they described as legal reasons. Tiny Code's website was also updated this week with the following message.
Tiny Code no longer produces fixes or applications for firmware 1.1.3. We can't say much, but we are working with Apple and with their SDK for the next firmware release and SDK applications and we shouldn't be missed for long. We will no longer update our Installer.app repo for legality reasons and you should see us soon on iTunes.
Another tidbit on the Tiny Code website also mentioned the new version of firmware directly, stating that Tiny Code development was "now targeting fw 1.1.4 Alpha2". At this point, Tiny Code's website is redirecting directly to Apple's iPhone Developer's Center web page, so there are no more breadcrumbs to be found. Regardless, the cat is out of the proverbial bag.
The release of 1.1.4 at the same time as the iPhone SDK might befuddle the efforts of the iPhone Dev Team who was, until the recent release of the iPhone Elite Team's ZiPhone and ZiPhone-based iJailbreak, was trying to keep their "true" 1.1.3 jailbreak under wraps for use with 1.1.3 once the SDK was released.
