Samsung F490 - finally a serious iPhone rival?

Samsung has announced today its new handset - the follower of F400. According to Trusted Reviews Samsung has learned its lessons from the launch of F400. F490 seems to be a lot more attractive than it’s predecessor. The most attractive for the potential buyer features are: HSPDA connectivity and 5MP camera.

It looks good as well, and having almost the same dimensions as the iPhone (115 x 53.5 x 11.8mm) - manages to be 33g lighter.

F490 offers good multimedia support. It can playback VGA resolution videos at 30fps and supports WMV and Mpeg4 and of course MP3, AAC and WMA audio ones. Video recording is not as impressive-only 15fps at 320 x 240 pixels. It also has web browser capable of full page rendering mobile-Safari-style, a 3.5mm headphone jack and A2DP Bluetooth. An integrated microSD slot gives hope for expanding the included 130MB of onboard memory.

The handset should hit the shelves in February at the RRP of 530€ = ~790 USD.
