Samsung announces Android 4.0 updates for Galaxy devices
If you happen to own a device from the Samsung Galaxy range, then you might be pleased to hear that Samsung has officially stepped forward to announce the time frame as to when the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update will be released to select devices. It seems that the Samsung Galaxy S II as well as the Samsung Galaxy Note will be on the receiving end of Ice Cream Sandwich sometime in Q1 2012, which is a 3 month wait at the worst when you think about it.
As for the other slew of devices which are tipped to be on the receiving end of the update, they are the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. These will only get Ice Cream Sandwich goodness after the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note receives theirs, so it remains to be seen whether that would mean a Q2 2012 release, or if the first two devices get theirs in January, then a Q1 release is also not too far off on the horizon. Samsung claims that update availability will be subject to region and carrier requirements, so folks living in the US will need to make sure that the carriers will offer said updates.
