Nokia Maps 2.0 sheds its Beta tag
Nokia introduced the Nokia Maps application in February 2008. Till now the version was a beta version but now Nokia has upgraded it and consumers can download this application and start using their on their mobile phones.
Yesterday Nokia and France Telecom formed a joint venture, where Nokia is responsible for providing digital mapping solutions. The improved Nokia Maps application is called the Nokia Maps 2.0 and has given focus on enhancing Car Navigation, pedestrian navigation; there are enhanced city guides available. The car navigation functionality of this application has visual and voice guidance on every turn so you will never get lost. Similar kind of turn by run navigation is provided for pedestrians.
The new UI of the application also offers satellite images. At last Nokia has made use of it’s acquisition of Navteq, cause Nokia Maps 2.0 has vector maps that are provided by Navteq. From last two years Nokia is very keen on becoming a company that provides Location based services and with this kind of applications, Nokia is getting closer to becoming one and once in a while, acquisitions like Navteq also help.
I have a thought, which is lingering in my mind from quite sometime and needs to come out, with these kind of map and navigation applications coming, we humans will forget to use your brain to search a place. When you are in a new city, finding places is like an opportunity to talk with locals and increase social contact but these application will quickly give you whatever you are looking for…then what bout our social contact?????
Anyways, Download Nokia Maps
