Pantech C610 to Hit AT&T Next Week

Pantech C610Together with the Matrix (no, not the movie), AT&T is getting ready to release yet another new Pantech device, namely Pantech C610. This one is not a slider, but a clamshell, so fans of flip phones will probably be happy to hear about its upcoming availability.

Unfortunately, we only have a small and blurry image with Pantech C610 so, for the time being, we can't get a good look at it. Fans will have to wait some more.

Either way, the C610 is a mid to low-end phone that comes with some good-to-have multimedia features, as well as with other basic ones. Among its capabilities, we must mention A-GPS, 3G connectivity, Music player, Music ID recognition, Instant Messaging (Windows Live, Yahoo! Messenger, AIM) and a 1.3 Megapixel camera with video recording. The handset sports a 2-inch TFT display with 176 x 220 pixels and 260K colors, and a 1-inch CSTN external display with a resolution of 96 x 96 pixels. Its internal memory is not known, but it looks like a microSD card slot is included.

The new Pantech weighs 3.25 ounces (92 grams) and, when not flipped, measures 3.67 x 1.81 x .72 inches (93 x 46 x 18 millimeters). Its battery should be capable of lasting up to 3 hours in talk-time mode or up to 10 days in stand-by – not that great, but those who are not “heavy users” should do just fine with it.

Pantech C610 should hit AT&T's shelves sometime after October 6 – meaning, next week – in a metropolitan red color (with some chrome accents that offer it a more distinct look). It seems that the largest North American carrier will offer the clamshell even for free, together with a contract agreement for two years. This being said, if you're in the US and are looking for a new budget phone this fall, Pantech C610 might be a good choice.
