Philips E100, a low-end music phone
After the introduction of their latest device, the Xenium X600, which was designed to have a long battery life, Philips came up with another music phone, releasing the new E100. As a matter of fact, Philips cell phones aren’t exactly ground breaking other than the fact that many of their handsets tout superior battery life as the main selling point. This means that many of those devices’ features are revolutionary, therefore nor up-to-date. The E100 is a low-end handset in a candybar design and features only the bare basics, so you shouldn’t expect even a VGA camera to come with it.
A budget minded mobile handset that should come with a reasonable price tag, the Philips E100 brings simplicity into the mobile world with its 1.8 inches 65k display, featuring a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels, enough for personalizing it with screensavers and wallpapers.
Among this phone’s features are included: an integrated FM radio, GSM / GPRS support, a WAP 2.0 / xHTML browser, a clock, an alarm, a calculator, a calendar, voice memo, T9 and handsfree. As far as the music lovers are concerned, there is an MP3 playback option, the device being able to recognize MP3 / WAV / AAC formats.
You might be disappointed by the fact that the E100 has a whopping 2MB of integrated memory (yes, you’ve read it right, I said megabytes), but you’ve got the possibility of increasing the storage due to the microSD card slot (TransFlash) of up to 2GB (this is one compulsory feature, if you ask me, as the internal memory is so… rudimentary).
The Philips E100 measures 104 x 44 x 13.7 millimeters and weighs 75 grams and it’s expected to be available this month at a price around $60 in selected retail stores. As I’ve said it before, the phone it’s a music dedicated one, so it doesn’t come with a camera. It might not catch your eye whatsoever, unless you’re looking for a simple standard device.

Philips X800 Xenium 9@9 reviewed. Comes with 35 days of stand-by!
We probably won’t be seeing Philips X800 full touchscreen handset here in Europe or U.S. anytime soon.Philips left the European mobile market eons ago and sold off it’s mobile unit to Asian investors. And they concentrated on selling Philips mobiles over there.
Well, it’s a shame. But noting prevents us checking out the latest phones under a Philips brand from a far.
Their newest creation - Philips X800 has been reviewed by ePrice today, and looks really cool.
The specs on Philips X800 - tri-band GSM connectivity (900/1800/1900), 2 megapixel camera, 2.9″ 262K touchscreen and microSD memory card slot - are not too exciting.
Except for a battery stand-by time - Philips claims 850 hrs of it, which sounds mighty impressive. The talk time is not that high though - about 8 hrs, so I guess most of the savings are achieved through some clever energy conversation tricks, when inactive.
Still, Philips X800 looks like an interesting handset and I would love to see it sold outside of Asia too.

Philips X800 and X-Connect are all-touch
Philips are obviously making a go at the high-end market, something they've been keeping away for quite some time. Today they've officially stepped up with two new handsets - the Philips X800 and the Philips Xenium X-Connect. The Philips X800 is a full touch-screen device with a large display, while the Philips Xenium X-Connect is a Windows Mobile-based device with an even bigger TFT display. Let's not waste any more time and delve into the specifics.The Philips X800 is the first full-touch device by the China-based manufacturer. Images of the X800 already leaked a week ago but now it's the real deal - the device is officially announced.
The Philips X800 is a tri-band GSM/GPRS handset and its highlight is the large 2.9-inch 262K color TFT display with touch-screen functionality and a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels. The interface of the device is also fully touch-based and offers handwriting recognition. The Philips X800 also flaunts a 2 megapixel auto focus camera, a microSD memory card slot, Bluetooth, an office documents reader.
The extraordinary battery times have been, so to say, a Philips trademark in recent years. The Philips X800 doesn't make difference and the manufacturer promises up to 850 hours of standby time and up to 8 hours of talk-time.
Unfortunately, no availability or pricing information is yet known.
Next Philips unveiled preliminary information on their upcoming Philips Xenium X-Connect. It will run on Windows Mobile 6 and will have a large 3-inch display (resolution and touchscreen functionality are still not clear). It will be rich in connectivity features such as GPRS/UMTS/HSDPA, however lacking Wi-Fi.
The Philips Xenium X-Connect will also have an integrated GPS-receiver and will offer Bluetooth, USB and a microSD memory card slot. More than anything though, the device has killer looks.
Currently no availability or pricing info is known on the Philips Xenium X-Connect.

Philips M600, Fashionable Music Phone Coming Soon
Philips M600 is a new music-oriented mobile phone that should be released pretty soon under Philips' brand name. The handset comes in a candybar form factor and has a very nice look, hence we could say it's both a fashion and a music phone.
M600's highlights include the SRS WOW technology for the best possible audio experience, Music player with support for MP3, WMA, MIDI and AMR, music-dedicated keys, Philips high-end headsets and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP.
The rest of the phone's features are the ones of a an entry-level device: dual-band GSM connectivity (900 / 1800 MHz), GPRS, a 2 inch TFT display with 256K colors and 172 x 220 pixels, a 1.3 Megapixel camera with video recording, WAP 2.0 browser, USB 1.1, Java MIDP 2.0, embedded games and microSD card slot for up to only 2GB – not really enough, since we talk about a music phone which should allow users to store as much music as they want.
The M600 measures 105 x 44 x 15.3 millimeters and, like most of the Philips phones, it includes a powerful battery that can provide up to 40 hours of continuous music playback time. The talk-time and stand-by time were not unveiled, but they're sure longer than the ones offered by most of the music phones currently on the market.
Philips M600 will surely be released in China pretty soon (since all Philips handsets are now produced there), but there are no details about its availability in other countries. Anyway, knowing that it has support for many languages, including (besides Chinese) English, French and Russian, the handset could also make it to Europe.
A price for the new Philips M600 was not announced, but it will probably be a bit more than what we usually categorize as being affordable.

Philips Xenium 9@9j with Integrated BackuPower
Announced in March 2007 last year, BackuPower provides users with a remarkably simple solution for instantly recharging their phones: by inserting any type of standard sized AAA battery -- alkaline or NiMH rechargeable -- in the phone's easily accessible cavity.
