Orange Launching New 3G iPhone on 17 July 2008

Orange Launching New 3G iPhone on 17 July 2008Orange, a brand of France Telecom, has announced that it will launch the new 3G iPhone on July 17, 2008. According to the company, the 3G iPhone offers faster internet access plus new features such as GPS and email via Microsoft Exchange. The 8GB model will sell for €149, while the 16GB will cost €199. Those prices presume that you are signing up for Orange for iPhone, Origami Star (at least 3 hours), First, or Jet plans. For other plans, the phones’ prices will get jacked up €50 apiece (except for time-cutoff and pay-as-you-go plans). These only apply to consumer plans—business plans will work differently.

The 3G iPhone also claims to offer email handling, with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, an enterprise function bringing over-the-air synchronization, push mode and remote content deletion. In addition to the wealth of features available on the original iPhone, the 3G version adds 3G/3G+ technology, which with Orange covers over 66% of the French population today. Outside 3G coverage areas, mobile broadband is available via EDGE and Orange WiFi, with the iPhone switching networks automatically. 3G iPhone customers also get advanced GPS capabilities, combining geolocation technology with the Multi-Touch interface, for trouble-free pathfinding.
