Sony Ericsson W760i Soon in Canada
After finally releasing RIM's BlackBerry Bold, Canada's Rogers is getting ready to launch another new and cool handset – Sony Ericsson W760i. Although for the moment there is nothing official about the release of the new phone, the handset might be available before the end of August.
Moreover, besides releasing the W760i, Rogers will also cut the prices for two of its current Sony Ericsson phones: the K850i Cyber-shot and the W580i. Thus, the first will be sold for $49.99, while the latter will be free (both offers being available with a three-year contract agreement, of course).
As for the price of the new W760i, this will also be free, but only after a $50 mail-in rebate and with the signing of a contract for three years.
One of the latest sliders from the Walkman series, Sony Ericsson W760i (or simply W760) is more than just a music phone. Its set of features include quad-band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE, tri-band HSDPA connectivity (850 / 1900 / 2100 MHz), built-in GPS, accelerometer, a 2.2 inch TFT display with 256K colors and 240 x 320 pixels, Walkman Player, FM Radio with RDS, stereo speakers, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, NetFront Browser, email, 3D games, a 3.15 Megapixel camera and a 1GB Memory Stick Micro card.
Weighing 103 grams and measuring 103 x 48 x 15 millimeters (when not slid), the W760i packs a 930 mAh Li-Po battery that should be able to last up to 9 hours in talk-time mode or up to 400 hours in stand-by mode.
There is no word yet on whether Rogers will release the new Walkman phone in other colors than silver as seen in the above-mentioned ad.
Besides Canada, Sony Ericsson will apparently make the W760 available in the US too, via AT&T, so the handset might be a big success for the Swedish-Japanese company across North America.
