Marketing director of Garmin in the Asia-Pacific region, Tony An, reported interesting details about plans for next year. First, the company representative said Garmin is scheduling release of smartphone Garmin Nuvifone. In the second quarter of 2009, the long-awaited Nuvifone will be at least available in the Taiwan market. Recall that Garmin has announced it earlier this year.

In addition, Garmin is working on other smartphones at this time based on Android. Garmin plans to start production of the first Android-smartphone during the second half of the next year.

As with the Nuvifone, which manufacturer is ASUStek, the production of Android based smartphone will be done by another company, although the development will be done by Garmin.
