iPhone Firmware 1.1.4 Released, Includes Bugfixes

Apple has released iPhone firmware version 1.1.4. Though anticipated by many, the release of the new firmware has not coincided with the release of the iPhone SDK. Instead, the apparent reason for the release of the new firmware is to resolve bugs caused by or left lingering after the release of iPhone firmware 1.1.3

iPhone Firmware 1.1.4
As always the new firmware is available for upgrade through iTunes, or via direct download from Apple. Users upgrading via either method should always make sure their iPhones are backed up before beginning the upgrade process.

Apple's release notes only indicate that the release includes bugfixes, while not stating specifically what these fixes are. Early indications are that these fixes are related to Bluetooth issues caused by firmware 1.1.3. Forum discussions popping up around the web also suggest that the new firmware fixes issues with SMS ordering that were introduced with 1.1.3.

Check back frequently for updates to the list of fixes included in 1.1.4.

 K660 & W890 Soon Out In Shops

Sony ericssonThe K660 and W890 models are soon going to be hitting the shops around the world. They’ll be priced somewhere between £200 - £250, which isn’t bad at all.

You can check out the K660 at Sony Ericsson’s 3D demo website, and spin it around to look at whatever detail you might want to look at.

The W890 websites have also been created now, which means you can check out a 3D demo of the phone, try it out for yourself or even go to the WAP portal and download W890 related stuff. What’s interesting is that the Espresso Black version seems to be missing from every single piece of media on the W890. I’m guessing it’s been cancelled.

I’ve already signed up for a W890 review model, and am expecting one to come along this week or early next week

We can see the use of portable media players is on the rise with companies trying to load as many features and enhancement as they can to these small and useful devices. The choices of such devices are plenty in the market and while big players like Apple, Creative and Sony fight an electronic war, the user gets the best. The only other size available in this series is one with an 8 GB memory capacity and comes in only two colors, silver and black. There are a couple of accessories like mini-speakers and recording function cradle, which make it even more attractive.
